Walk through the agreed scope and written changes with the contractor, noting any unfinished work and who will resolve it. Compare the final invoice with that record. FTC's sign-off checklist includes inspecting the completed work, site cleanup and written material and workmanship warranties. Ask what each warranty covers, its exclusions and whom to contact. Resolve discrepancies with the contractor before closing the job; an insurance estimate alone is not a substitute for your agreement and documented completion.
