Ask what problem the product addresses, where it will be applied, its label directions, occupant precautions and what physical cleaning or removal is also included. EPA does not recommend biocides as a routine mold-cleanup practice, although professional judgment can justify their use in some circumstances. Killing mold alone does not remove it, and a treatment does not fix the moisture source. Request the reason and price for the proposed step rather than assuming either that every treatment is necessary or that every contractor offering one is acting improperly.
